Dynamic Picasa 2.0?
I've been playing with Picasa 2.0 and it's by far the best photo application I've used. I am looking for a way to make the output more dynamic. There are two types of scenarios - and some inherent problems:
1) there is no real good web export. It's kind of cheesy - especially for having multiple albums - although templated. There is also no FTP built in which is a bit of a pain in the ass - since it has to be two steps. There are also no dynamic features like a slide show.
2) there is an XML output which is great, but it's similar issues. First is that it will require more time that I really want to give it - second is that there is no multiple album support. Third is that it still requires two processes.
Web-based photo galleries like GlobatGallery are fantastic, but for a lot of pictures nothing beats a local application like Picasa.
I think, right now, the best solution is using the web-based output of Picasa with a process to make it have multiple albums based on the number of folders. It can create the index based off of the first photo in each album and be uploaded to something like GlobatGallery with a java-based upload (which uploads a whole directory in one shot).
Any feedback or ideas?
